Positive motivation: Implementation in practice

We use the beginning of a new week, month or year as an indicator to leave the previous behavior behind. These transition points offer us "the freedom to become a new, better version of ourselves."

To achieve the above, being motivated plays a crucial role. Specifically, when we are guided by positive motivations, we are led to action. In this way, our productivity increases, as a result of which we feel self-effective.

It is indicative that according to recent research, motivation predicts the success of a professional career, better than intelligence, ability or salary.

So what can help us to adopt positive motivations?

  • Recording all the positive consequences that will result from achieving the goals we have set, can serve as a reminder and motivate us when we think of giving up the effort.
  • Focusing on our strengths. Instead of dwelling on our weaknesses, it is helpful to focus on how to maximize our strengths.
  • It is important to reward ourselves every time we move in the desired direction.
  • Searching for allies. Hiring a friend who inspires and encourages us will probably strengthen our effort.
  • Progress chart. Dividing a larger target into smaller milestones will help our progress.
